Walter Benson
Walter Benson as many business
men of the Victorian time seem to do had a number of concerns going at
the same time.In 1869 he is the Publican of the "Bird in Hand"
at 217 High Street, by 1881 as well as the business in High Street, he
was also operating from 31 Walters Rd, was listed as a Wine and Spirit
Merchant, and was now listed as Walter Benson & Co.
None of the references show any connection to 40 Hanover Street, from
research most of the occupants of 40 Hanover Street were beer retailers,
so it appears the address was a commercial property. Unfortunately the
building no longer exist.
