Walter Benson
Butcher & Co. Trade Directory of 1875-6 puts Walter Benson as the Propriteor of The Bird in Hand, 217 High St. Swansea, in 1880 the same directory lists him as Walter Benson & Co. Ale and Porter Merchants, 217 High St. Swansea.
In trade Directories of 1889-90 and 1891 Walter Benson is listed as being the proprietor of 40 Hanover Street, it was listed in many directories as a beer shop, known now as an off licence, during its time it was run by many proprietors. The building no longer exists.
Walter Benson was born about about 1817 in Chepstow, there are no listings for him after 1891.
