SWANSEA BOTTLES

Introduction

Boucher R.

Based at Cwm Terrace, Upper Strand Swansea

In a Swansea Directory of 1899 we have the first mention of Robert Boucher he is listed at 5 Mansel St. as a foreman, probably before he branched out to open his Mineral Water Company. Boucher had previously been the manager of a Mineral Water Works in Whitehaven, Cumberland and appears to have moved to Swansea between 1891-99.

In a 1907 Trade Directory Boucher address is given as 5 Mansel Street

I am unsure if Robert Boucher (Born Lancashire 1857), Crown Mineral Water Works, is in anyway connected to "The Crown Mineral Water Co." but as they both used the same trademark there is a high probability, recent research has now shown that both companies were trading in a 1907 Trade Directory at the same time, they may have formed a partnership at some time or simply both used the same trademark. I don't have much information about this firm and would appreciate any information.

Two standard shape ginger beers, two tone with brown tops. Both are cork stoppers.

At first glance they look the same, the only difference is a full stop after the word Swansea in the transfer.
