Hancocks

Little Wind St. Swansea.

The Brewery was situated at Little Wind Street Swansea, under the railway arches that split Wind Street at the bottom.

William Hancock a Somerset Brewer who acquired the Bute Dock Brewery, Cardiff in 1883, after his death the Company was Registered as William Hancock & Co Ltd in 1887.
The Company started to expand further and took over other Breweries, in Swansea they took over;
In 1887; Auckland & Thomas, West End Brewery, Madoc Street,
In 1890; Joseph Hall & Co. Wine and Spirit merchant,
In 1892; Thomas Jones, High Street Brewery, Tower lane, (closed 1895).
In 1927; Swansea Old Brewery Ltd, Old Brewery, Singleton Street, (closed 1934).

William Hancock & Co. Ltd. was finally taken over in 1968 by Bass and ceased trading in 1971.
