Bottle number two in the line up was one of only two known firms to buy their bottles from a Swansea firm,James.A.Bailey of 9 Alexandra Rd, Swansea, in various Trade Directories Bailey was described as a Cork Cutter and Bottle Merchant. Bailey also produced glass bottles for his customers. Below is a close up of the J.A. Bailey stamp seen on bottle two.
The picture above shows the Orange Street brewery in about 1880 Swansea United Breweries was as the name suggests a number of breweries from Swansea who all amalgamated, whether by choice or takeover to form the company. The first mention of Swansea United Breweries was in an 1895 Directory. Their address was listed at 8 Orange St. Henry William Crowhurst had been brewing here since at least 1869.
