SWANSEA BOTTLES

Introduction

West End Brewery

Western St. Swansea

The brewery was based in the St Helens area of Swansea, it also had branches in Maesteg. The firms pictorial was that of a goat identical to the one used by Evans. In an 1887 Directory the Proprietor of the West End Brewery is listed as an E.F. Ackland of 24 Madoc Street.

In later Years the Proprietor was Labdon and Sons, In Kellys 1895 Directory, Labdon is listed as

" James Labdon, Beer Retailer, 56 Castle Street, Maesteg".

One, all white standard version, non pictorial. Swansea only
Three, all white standard pictorial versions. Swansea and Maesteg.

Of the three pictorials all are mostly identical except, version one is shown below, version two has a star each side of the goat and version three has the name James Labdon on it as well.

The Maesteg address for this company is listed as James Labdon, Beer retailer, 56 Castle Street in a directory of 1895

All versions use a cork stopper.

I am very interested in buying two versions to this bottle, the first has A A printed each side of the goat trademark, the second states "Labdon and Son" as Proprietor. Do you have either of these bottles for sale, if you do I will pay £100 for a good example. Use the link below to contact me.
